And then ultimately what I tell the kids is: coaches can give you information, they can give you guidelines, and they can put you in a position. But the only person who can truly make you better is you.

Arturo Duarte
With 13 years of coaching experience, my commitment to soccer stems from a deep, lifelong obsession with the game and its training philosophies. From a young age, all I wanted was to learn more about soccer to become a more well-rounded coach. My dedication to mastering the technical and tactical aspects of the game is formalized through my USSF B License and a Level 4 Diploma from USSC.
I’ve had the privilege of working with a variety of clubs and organizations, including Liverpool Academy Austin and Wells Branch Soccer Association.
My practical knowledge comes not just from the sidelines but from a robust playing career. I played Youth Club Soccer from ages 5 to 18 and still play in a Men’s League whenever I get the chance. On the field, I’m versatile, having played roles like the 8, 10, 7, and 11.
Beyond the field, I’m fluent in both English and Spanish. My favorite post-match reward is a tie between Mexican street tacos and Chinese/Vietnamese take-out. When I’m not coaching, I enjoy a good mental challenge and a unique hobby: playing and watching poker. I’m also a huge fan of Game of Thrones.
Here’s a fun fact: I have a twin brother, and my two younger brothers are also twins—that’s two sets of twins in the family! And to bring it back to the pitch, our Director Alec and I have been best friends since we were 11.

Alec Bellamy
As Head Coach, Technical Trainer, Registrar, and Executive Director, my role at Liberty United is comprehensive. I currently lead the Liberty United 12B Purple team and have coached several other squads for the club, including the 2009G, 2009B, 2010B, 2011B, and 2013G Purple teams.
With 8 years of coaching experience, my dedication comes from a simple place: I love the game of soccer and the joy and structure it has brought me my entire life. I coach to share what I’ve learned, helping players be the best version of themselves both on and off the field. My goal is for the game to do for others what it has done for me, and I strive to give every player the energy and focus they deserve to make that possible.
My credentials include a USSF C License and a Sport Management degree from UT with a Minor in Business Foundations. My previous coaching experience includes two years with Round Rock YSA during my high school years.
As a player, I competed in Youth Club Soccer from ages 5 to 18 and still play in a competitive Men’s League. On the field, I typically operate as a 4, 5, or 9.
I am 31 years old and have lived in the Austin metro area since I was nine. I am married to my beautiful wife, Amelia (we’ve been together for 10 years!), and I’m proud to say that Director Arturo and I have been best friends since we were 11.
I am fluent in English and proficient in Spanish. My favorite post-match reward is a toss-up between a McDonald’s Hot Fudge Sundae and a 10-Wing Combo from Pluckers (Mangonero/Hot).
When it comes to unique talents, I’ve got a few: I have solid 5/10 cooking skills, I can usually remember someone’s name forever if I’ve said it three times purposefully, and I can put up triple digits in bowling!

With 12 years of coaching experience, my motivation is simple: I enjoy seeing the players love the game and their teammates. I like being an active part of that developmental process. I hold a USSF C License, and my coaching career has been dedicated entirely to the same organization, where I have been part of LHYSA for all twelve years.
I am fluent in both English and Spanish. When it comes to refueling after a match, my favorite snack is an apple. Outside of soccer, I have a hidden talent and unique hobby—I enjoy kayaking!

Luis Bolanos
Hi, my name is Luis Bolanos, and I am the Head Coach for the 2018B Purple and 2015B Gold teams.
With 2 years of head coaching experience, including one full year with Georgetown Soccer Association and one full year with Liberty United, I am passionate about the beautiful game. I coach because I love soccer and want kids to learn and grow, both character-wise and skill-wise, just as I did when I was younger.
I have a strong playing history, having played for 12 years from age 8 to 20. My dedication to coaching development is formalized with both a Grassroots License and a D License.
I am 22 years old and bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish. After a game, you’ll usually find me enjoying an Icee. When I’m not on the field, my unique hobby is bowling—I love to bowl and will always accept a hangout!
Here’s a fun fact about me: I bought my first house at 20, an achievement that taught me the true value of perseverance.

Mark Hoffman
I serve as a Head Coach, Technical Coach, and Field Manager at Liberty United. I currently coach the 2013 Girls Purple, 2014 Girls Purple, and 2017 Boys Gold teams, and I enjoy contributing as one of the club’s Technical Coaches.
My coaching career is marked by continuous growth and dedication. I first coached the Rattlers U12 Boys team from 1996 to 1997. After a break, I returned to the sidelines in 2015, spending five years at NS (coaching U11 and U8) and two years at Centex Soccer.
I have been with Liberty United since August of 2022, and this season will mark my fourth year with the club. During my time here, I’ve had the great pleasure of seeing four different teams reach the championship game in various tournaments—a testament to the hard work and growth of our players.
My commitment to formal development is extensive:
-
In 1996, I earned my F, E, and Level 1 and Level 2 Goldie licenses.
-
In 2023, I earned my US D License.
-
In 2025, I earned my US C License.
My coaching philosophy is simple: I love sharing the knowledge and love of the game that I learned as a player. To me, soccer is more than just a sport; it’s a powerful tool for life. Through the game, players learn how to overcome difficult situations, solve problems, build relationships, and become leaders—all skills vital for success in life.
I played varsity soccer for all four years in high school and competed in the UPL in Dallas from 1997 until the spring of 2000, when a knee injury temporarily sidelined me. I started playing again in 2002, competing in both outdoor and top-level men’s division soccer in Austin and indoor leagues until I stopped playing at age 34.
I have 15 children, 13 of whom still live at home! Our favorite family vacation is going to Port Aransas and playing soccer on the beach.
My favorite team to watch is Bayern Munich, and my favorite player is Thomas Muller. After a hard practice or game, I enjoy refueling with a simple, comforting meal: chocolate milk, spaghetti, Alfredo, and pizza.

Mohamad Yousif
With over six years of coaching experience, my commitment to the game is deeply personal. Growing up, I navigated significant challenges as a player—including tough transitions between countries, limited support, and a lack of proper guidance. I coach to give young players what I wish I had: real mentorship, proper development, and someone who truly believes in them.
I hold a U.S. Soccer D License along with Grassroots Licenses (4v4, 7v7, 9v9). My coaching career includes working with a variety of clubs and organizations, where I’ve held multiple roles:
-
Lonestars SC (Head Coach)
-
Avila Soccer
-
Sudazona SC (Player & Head Coach)
-
Alkoda Academy (Coach & Site Manager)
My playing experience is equally diverse, spanning the globe. I’ve played competitively in Sudan, Egypt, and the U.S., including high school varsity and college teams (ASU, UTSA, British Educational School) as well as for semi-pro academies. Soccer has truly been part of every chapter of my life.
I am fluent in both English and Arabic. For my post-match routine, I keep it simple and healthy: bananas and smoothies—the perfect recovery fuel. When I’m not on the field, I have a hidden talent: I’m unbeatable at FIFA (don’t test me unless you’re ready to lose!). And here’s a fun fact: my mood genuinely depends on how Barcelona is doing. No joke.

Laura Munoz
My coaching journey is built on a foundation of youth coaching experience combined with years of competitive play. I coach because I want to inspire young athletes to develop their skills, confidence, and love for the game, all while learning essential lessons in teamwork and discipline.
My formal qualifications include Grassroots 7v7 and 9v9 certifications. Before joining Liberty United, I worked with local youth programs and conducted private training sessions to help players refine their technique.
As a player, I have a lifelong history in the sport. I competed at the collegiate level for Huston–Tillotson University and played high-level club and high-school soccer throughout my youth. This background provides a deep understanding of the game’s demands and the player development path.
I am fluent in both English and Spanish. When I need to refuel after a match, my favorite snack is simple and classic: oranges. Outside of soccer, I have a hidden talent—I enjoy painting—and I also run my own cleaning and detailing business.

Jake Kirchoff-Sleet
With 11 years of experience on the touchline, my primary motivation for coaching is to share my extensive knowledge with future generations of players. My current coaching certification is at the Grassroots Level.
I previously worked with Pacesetter Soccer ECNL.
My coaching philosophy is deeply informed by a high-level playing career. I have significant experience competing at the professional and semi-professional levels in England. After moving to the US, I continued to play at a high level, including experience in NAIA, USL, and MASL leagues. This background gives me a unique perspective on the technical and tactical demands required for players to succeed at every stage of the game.
Away from the field, I am a devoted father of three.

Luis Garza
Although I have 1 year of formal coaching experience, my passion for soccer runs deep. I am truly in love with this game—it means everything to me. I am fortunate to live the dream of coaching, and every day I fall in love with the sport even more. My foundation in coaching is built on my Grassroots certification.
Beyond the soccer pitch, I bring a competitive and disciplined spirit honed in another sport. I currently hold a Muay Thai record of 3-1.
I am a multilingual coach, fluent in both Spanish and English, and I am actively expanding my linguistic skills by learning Dutch.
When it’s time to refuel, nothing beats my favorite meal: enchiladas suizas made by my grandmother.

The main reason why I coach is that my life has always revolved around soccer. Growing up, the only sport I ever wanted to watch and play was soccer. Arturo Duarte was there at the start of my journey. He was my first real coach when I was 9 years old. The relationship that I’ve been blessed to have with Arturo is the type of relationship and impact I would love to give to at least one of my players. I want them to be able to grow and look back fondly on any interactions they’ve had with me. I also love seeing players I’ve coached progress to even higher levels. This is just the beginning of my journey and eventually I hope I end up coaching for FC Barcelona or any other big club like them.
